Jokes surrounding a dysfunctional parish council meeting, which went viral last week, have been taking the internet by storm. And now they have even found their way to Axminster Town Council.

A video clip of a heated meeting of Handforth Parish Council in Cheshire (see above) went viral after being shared on Twitter last week.

Jackie Weaver, brought in from the Cheshire Association of Local Councils to clerk the meeting, became an overnight sensation after she was seen removing the chairman and vice-chairman from the Zoom meeting after they yelled at her and told her she had "no authority here".

The clip has resulted in endless memes, songs and spoof comedy TV programmes based on the plight of Jackie Weaver doing the rounds on the internet this week.

She has also appeared on several national TV and radio programmes to explain what was really going on in Handforth.

And 'Jackie Weaver' even made a surprise appearance at Axminster Town Council this week.

During the council's latest virtual meeting held over Zoom, someone logged on with the name 'Jackie Weaver' shown on screen.

With their video switched off and microphone muted, it was was left to the Mayor of Axminster, Cllr Jill Farrow, to question who was really behind the name, but she received no response.

Any member of the public can join a council Zoom meeting and does not have to show their face or speak, and there is technically nothing stopping them from using any name they like.

The mayor asked the deputy town clerk to keep an eye on the mystery 'Jackie Weaver' character, and warned that they would be removed from the meeting if they pulled any pranks during the meeting.

'Jackie' eventually left on her own accord halfway through the meeting without any hijinks.
