YEAR 4 pupils from Axminster Community Primary School have been sent home to self-isolate after a confirmed case of coronavirus.
A Year 4 pupil tested positive for the virus and parents were informed in a letter sent out on Thursday that the 34 other children in the year group bubble were being asked to stay home.
Teachers will be providing home learning for the students affected.
The school will remain open for other pupils and all affected areas of the school will undergo a deep clean.
The letter sent to parents said: "We know that you may find this concerning but we are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England."
It added that COVID-19 was a mild illness for most people and children are least likely to become poorly from the virus.
The letter continued: "The small number of children who have been in direct prolonged contact with the confirmed case will have received an individual letter and will be staying at home for 14 days. The school remains open and your child should continue to attend if they remain well."
The letter advised that if a child develops symptoms of COVID-19 they should not come into school and should remain home for 10 days. All other household members should remain home for 14 days, including anyone in a support bubble.
