The family of the late Adam Bounds – a former resident of Axminster – have handed over more than £1,700 raised in his memory to Lyme Regis lifeboat crew.

Adam died suddenly in May 2021, aged 41, after suffering a brain haemorrhage.

Having grown up in Axminster and attended The Woodroffe School in Lyme Regis, he was a well-known and popular character in both communities and had played for both Axminster Town and Uplyme football clubs.

Adam was particularly known for his upbeat persona and zest for life.

Despite moving to Bristol in later life, Adam regularly returned home, particularly during the summer months when he enjoyed attending and taking part in events in Lyme Regis.

His favourite event was Lifeboat Week and he had many friends within the lifeboat crew.

A collection for the RNLI was made at Adam's funeral in June, when hundreds gathered on the Minster Green in Axminster to pay their respects.

A charity football match between the lifeboat crew and other local emergency services was then played in Adam's memory as part of Lifeboat Week in July, and tributes were also made to him at the Yard of Ale competition, which was one of his favourite events.

His family – including his father Les Bounds, brother Jamie Bounds and son Owen Bounds – handed over a cheque for just over £1,700 at the lifeboat station on Sunday afternoon.

The presentation was attended by many of the lifeboat crew members and volunteers who had known Adam.
