Heavy rain this evening has caused some serious flooding on Axminster roads.

Areas affected with floodwater currently include Weycroft, the mini roundabout on Stoney Lane/Chard Road, Millbrook, Woodbury Park, Sector Lane and The Cricketers.

Neighbouring villages including Shute, Whitford and Uplyme are also reportedly flooded and many roads in Seaton is suffering serious flood issues.

The A3052 through Colyford is now very difficult to pass.

Devon county councillor Stuart Hughes has said there have been reports of a landslide between Colyton and Whitford, but no further information is available at this time.

Colyton fire crew has been called out to incidents of flooding.

A statement from the crew said: "There is widespread flooding in the area tonight. The crew are out dealing with incidents.

"Cars driving around are pushing more water into already flooded properties.

"We understand some journeys are necessary but if possible we advise you to stay home and stay safe."

The Met Office's yellow weather warning remains in place until 3am tomorrow (Thursday).

The fire service advises that you don't make any unnecessary trips during bad weather and never drive through flood water, as vehicles can become stuck or even swept away in just 30cm of flowing water.

You can read more advice and find out where to find help if you have been affected by flooding on the Devon County Council website.
