The Archway Bookshop in Axminster is keeping fingers crossed that it can open doors at its new home at Trinity House on November 4.

But with the entire country seemingly suffering from a shortage of building materials, Axminster is no different and the opening depends entirely on whether glass will be delivered in time for the new windows.

A statement from Archway Bookshop said: Our lovely, loyal customers all want to know when we will be making the big, bold move to Trinity House.

"The build is substantially done and Axminster Property are doing a magnificent job. But there is one big fly in our ointment in the shape of an acute national shortage of glass for our new windows.

"So when we tell you that our planned first day at Trinity House has been set for Thursday, November 4 it is with our fingers firmly crossed. Watch this space!"

It was announced back in July that the tiny bookshop in Church Street would be moving to Axminster's flagship town centre building Trinity House, completing the renovation of the former department store.

It is hoped the relocation will help the bookshop move into a new era in which it can better fulfil its community role as well as its customers' needs.
