A women-only friendly chat group is being set up in Axminster to help combat loneliness.

The group will meet for the first time in The Waffle House, Trinity Square, at 11 am on July 27.

The aim of the new grip is to have a weekly meeting place, especially for women of any age group, to make new friends and help combat loneliness within the community.

Future events will possibly include day trips which will be up for discussion at the first meeting.

Further details can be obtained by sending a private message to Lorna Blencowe on Facebook.

The idea has been welcomed on Facebook with more than 60 likes and a number of messages of support.
