An Axminster couple have launched a business dubbed 'the lockdown pet food experts' and are hoping to grow their new venture despite the restrictions of the coronavirus pandemic.

Nigel and Sally Bragg of Axminster launched Oscar Pet Food Bridport - a pet food delivery service - in February, just before the first lockdown.

Nigel said: "We have four dogs - as well as two rabbits and a horse - ourselves and I have always wanted to become my own boss and saw this as the perfect opportunity coupling my sales experience with my love of animals."

Despite being operational for less than a year and having to navigate two lockdowns with numerous restrictions, Nigel wants to take the business to the next level.

He added: "The lockdown has been good to us, we have taken on some new customers, however, we do find it very limiting on how we can grow our new business with the restriction in place.

"We feel that because we are a contactless home delivery business, it helps us to reassure our customers that they can buy safely and with confidence.

"We are happy that, although there are restrictions, the good thing is we can continue to operate and serve our existing and any new customers that come our way.

"Customers tell us that they are pleased to be able to buy British and from a local business."
