Events surrounding this year's switching on of the Christmas lights in Axminster are set to be the biggest and best yet.

Light Up Axminster has teamed up with Axminster Carnival to provide a full programme of festive events on Saturday, November 20 from 4pm to 8pm.

Events will centre around Trinity Square and the Minister Green, and will include a Christmas market and a torchlight procession through the town centre.

Wax torches will be available to buy on the night, and in advance from local outlets starting this weekend.

Entertainment will include Herbert's Funfair, Puppetree Punch & Judy, music, carol singing and much more.

Axminster Lions Club will also be bringing along extra special visitor Father Christmas to meet the children.

There will also be a memory tree to leave a message for a loved one and food bank and gift donation points to support those in need this festive season.

The evening will culminate with the switching-on of the town's Christmas lights.

The mayor encouraged town councillors to get behind the event at this month's council meeting.
