Axminster FC Reserves 5, Millwey Rise 1sts 1 Millwey Rise Rise got the first shot on goal within a couple of minutes but it was Axe who broke away and took the lead soon after. Nathan Hoole in the Millwey goal was quickly called on to save another goal-bound shot. The game was going from end-to-end without either side grabbing control and chances kept arriving at either end. Sam Dibling had several efforts on goal but failed to test the Tigers' keeper before the home side incrased their lead with a powerful strike from outside the area. Sam Burke then went close with a header from a Dibling free-kick and in the closing minutes Bradley Conway cut in from the wing but his final shot was wide of the upright. The second period was greeted with another quick goal for the home side and although Millwey never gave up, led by the industrious Sam Burke, they were very much second best on most occasions. Axe scored two more before Brad Conway scored a consolation goal for Rise. Goals for Axminster came from Charlie Wilson (2) Sam Winslade, Joe Jones and James Girton. Millwey's man-of-the match was Sam Burke who covered every inch of the pitch in his endeavours to keep his team in the game. After the two previous tight results in games against their neighbours, this was something of an anti-climax for Rise but both teams gave little quarter in a typical derby game encounter.Share:
