Millwey Rise 2nds 4, Tedburn St Mary 3
Millwey Rise welcomed Mark Enticott back to the dug-out to assist 2nd X1 manager Terry Male.
Rise started the game strongly and were very much in control and took the lead through captain-for-the- day Jack Bennett.
Minutes after Millwey let Tedburn St Mary back in to the game via a deflected free-kick past keeper Male. Little else happened in the first half apart from a left-foot venomous strike from Ashley Doble which flew just over the visitors crossbar.
Tedburn were quickest out of the gates in the second period, but Millwey thwarted the attacks and were soon 2-1 up when a penalty, given for hand ball, gave Bennett his second goal.
Minutes later Tedburn were level again when Rise Rise defence failed to clear the ball but took the lead for the third time, again through Bennett who headed home Cameron Boards' excellent corner.
Tedburn yet again pegged Rise back to 3-3 and in the final frantic minutes of end to end football either side could have won but it was Rise who came out on top from a skilfully lob from Ashley Doble, his first for the club.
Managers Male and Enticott were pleased with the positive attitude of their players in this tight game and their man-of-the-match went to Bailey Hall for some game saving interceptions. Ashley Hall in midfield was also exceptional.
Millwey travel to City Raiders 1st X1 for next week's game.
