Axminster Reserves open up five-point lead at top off table

Axminster Reserves strengthened their position at the top of the Devon & Exeter League Division Two East with a 7-1 victory last night (Thursday) over close rivals Sidmouth Town 3rds.

With four games played, the Tigers now have a five-point lead at the top of the table over Sidmouth.

Watched by a crowd of 84 at Tiger Way, Axe stormed into 4-0 half-time lead, with goals from Tom Edwards (2) and Jamie Girton (2), although Sidmouth did have a number of chances.

Girton completed his hat-trick in the second half with further goals from Joe Jones and Sam Winslade.

Manager Dan Prettejohn picked out Sam Winslade as his man-of-the-match for his tireless running and support play.

Axminster Reserves' next fixture is on Saturday, October 17th at home to Axmouth who were beaten 10-0 by Cranbrook.
