The Nub News network is always growing and is now operating local news websites in 42 towns across the UK.

The hyperlocal network of websites were launched in 2019 by Karl Hancock, who spent 25 years working as a banker in the City of London and is passionate about the importance of local news.

It has quickly grown to cover 42 towns across the UK, and is currently advertising for new recruits with the eventual aim of taking on up to 200 journalists nationwide.

The latest websites to join the network will cover Godalming, in Surrey, and Conwy, in North Wales.

In East Devon, Nub News covers Axminster, Seaton, Sidmouth, Honiton and Exmouth.

The sites in Axminster and Seaton were launched in May this year with editorial content provided by father and daughter journalistic team, Philip and Francesca Evans.

Philip's career in journalism spans 55 years and he is well known in the East Devon area having previously managed the Pulman's Weekly News and View From titles.

His daughter Francesca joined the family trade in 2011 after studying journalism at university and they now manage the Nub News websites in Axminster and Seaton alongside their own hyperlocal website and newspaper, LymeOnline, which covers the Lyme Regis area.

The pair have taken on Nub News' primary principle of getting to the heart of the community. They have received a great response from East Devon residents and businesses since launching the Axminster and Seaton sites in May with an ever-increasing readership and following on both Facebook and Twitter.

As well as the latest local news updated daily, the Nub News websites provide What's On listings, a local business directory, classifieds, property and job listings.

Nub News encourages its readers to get involved with their local websites. You can submit your own news and events by clicking the black 'Nub It' button and simply entering the details, which will then be reviewed by a member of the team and published.

Local businesses can also benefit from our free business directory - simply visit the Local List page and click the black 'Nub It' button to enter your details within minutes.

"Your community, your news, your website - that's the ethos here at Nub News," said Francesca.

"We like to keep things simple - no annoying adverts, pop-ups or surveys; no fake news or click-bait; just quality, local journalism you can trust with the community at heart."

You can also get in touch with your news and events by contacting Francesca on 07810 221 420 or emailing [email protected] or Philip on 07796 951 991 or email [email protected]
