Since taking over as landlords of The Castle Inn in Axminster back in May, Paul and Sharon Bocker have been busy giving the pub a full revamp and raising funds for local charities.

The Castle has been modernised with a bright and welcoming interior and a cosy dining area, with food service having started in October.

The menu offers up generous portions of traditional pub favourites, including steaks, burgers, roast dinners and homemade puddings.

Behind the bar there is a good selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, including beers, wine, spirits and hot drinks.

Patrons can also enjoy the garden area at the rear of the pub, with further plans to upgrade this in time for the summer.

The Castle is no longer a "rugby pub" and instead shows a wide range of sports on its TV screen.

Paul and Sharon have also been hosting regular events at the pub, including live music, bingo, quiz nights, raffles and charity fundraisers.

The pub's current chosen charity is Arc, Axminster's local counselling service, and they recently handed over a cheque for £300 to Arc's own Christmas elves – fundraiser Suzie McFadzean and trustee Janice Cole.

Mrs Cole said: "A big thank you to everyone at The Castle Inn for their fundraising efforts."

The money was raised through a Halloween theme bingo and raffle which was well supported by local businesses.

The Castle is also currently running its sponsor a bauble scheme in aid of Arc, in which patrons can pay for a bauble in memory of a loved one on the pub's Christmas tree, with all those taking part to be entered into a raffle to be drawn after Christmas.

The pub will also be hosting a coffee morning from 11am to 12.30pm on Monday, December 6 in aid of Axminster Food Bank.
