Axe Valley Academy headteacher Laura Jenkins praises students, staff and parents

In a message to pupils, parents and staff, the headteacher of the Axe Valley Academy has spoken of her pride in how the Axminster school has dealt with the return to education as the coronavirus lockdown restrictions have eased.

Mrs Laura Jenkins said it was "wonderful" to see so many of the Year 10 students back at the academy this week as they prepare for their GCSEs.

Addressing her remarks to the students, Mrs Jenkins said: "We have been impressed with the impeccable behaviour and dedicated attitude you have shown to your work.

"You were thrown back into to being taught full lessons and although it was a big ask, you have risen to the occasion.

"This is why we are so proud to call you Axe Valley students, so thank you Year 10 for being so respectful and hardworking."

Mrs Jenkins also thanked the "amazing parents" who could not have been more positive and supportive in facilitating their children's education and getting Year 10 students back into Axe Valley Academy.

The headteacher referred to the "incredible" academy staff who continue to work tirelessly in school and out.

She concluded by saying: "I am incredibly proud and thankful to be part of such a wonderful community.

"For any Year 10 parents who may now wish to send their child in to Axe Valley Academy in their bubble, please contact reception at your earliest convenience. The programme remains the same each week to the end of term for Year 10."
