Double celebration for Kilmington-based fishmongers

Family business Lyme Bay Fish Shack is celebrating after a double catch at the Fishing News Awards 2021.
The business, run by husband and wife team Nigel and Corinne Birt, was named Independent Fresh Fish Retailer of the Year, and their son Sam, aged 17, won the Trainee Fisherman of the Year award.
The team said they were "delighted and super proud" to receive the awards, adding: "We would like to thank all the people who voted for us and are customers who love what we do. A big thank you also to our amazing staff who make up a great team.
"We are so lucky to have are shop based at the amazing Millers Farm Shop, thank you to you guys for all your continued support over the years."
The awards were organised by The Fishing News, a weekly newspaper and website which has been providing the latest news, features and nostalgia from the commercial fishing industry since 1913.
Lyme Bay Fish Shack was launched in 2012 with its boat KT-SAM E 10, run by Nigel and son Sam, working out of Lyme Regis.
They pot for lobsters and crab, use static nets for Dover sole, plaice, etc, and rod and line for bass, pollack and cod.
Over the years they have expanded to a new shop and prep room at Millers Farm Shop in Kilmington, which was built in 2019.
