Axminster and Colyton fire crews were among those to tackle a blaze in a barn at Dalwood yesterday (Tuesday).

Assisted by the water carrier from Danes Castle fire station in Exeter and supporting officers, Axminster and Colyton crews were called to the agricultural fire at 6.10am.

The fire involved a number of hay bales in a barn with approximately 200 having to be removed from the building using a telehandler.

Crews used four breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet, one 45mm jet and a safety jet to extinguish the fire.

The cause of the fire was believed to be accidental.
